What is Media Literacy and why is it important for you as FCM students to have it?

Media literacy is the ability to sift through and analyze the messages that inform, entertain and sell to us every day. It's the ability to bring critical thinking skills to bear on all media— from music videos and Web environments to product placement in films and virtual displays....

Media literacy is the process of accessing, analyzing, evaluating and creating messages in a wide variety of media modes, genres and forms. It uses an inquiry-based instructional model that encourages people to ask questions about what they watch, see, and read. Media literacy education provides tools to help people critically analyze messages to detectpropagandacensorship, and bias in news and public affairs programming (and the reasons for such), and to understand how structural features -- such as media ownership, or its funding model -- affect the information presented.

So from two of the example i can make a conclusion what is media literacy is.
From my opinion Media Literacy is a process that very important on media (every form of media). The process is making, evaluating, thinking and everything that have conncetion with media. This thing is very important for me as an FCM student.

WHY?

Because in FCM when we produce a thing such a design, a film, a video clip, a picture, a painting or anything we should do a process untill the artwork is finally done. For example, when we make a painting we should now what is the subject that we need to draw until the artwork is done.
